Brief History
Our, in accordance with the supplementary 30th article of Law No. 2809 dated 28.03.1983, officially commenced its activities in the 2010-2011 academic year with the Cabinet Decision No. 1595 dated 4.4.2011. Since its establishment, the vocational school has been providing services within the framework of the authorized duties and responsibilities specified in the relevant regulations, in line with its mission and principles. Currently:
Mandatory programs include:
- Faculty of Technology > Software Engineering Joint Undergraduate Program (UOLP) (%100)
- Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences > English Language and Literature (%100)
- Faculty of Education > English Language Education (%100)
The school provides foreign language instruction in preparatory classes for these programs. Additionally, our vocational school offers optional (voluntary) foreign language education to all new department students before starting their undergraduate studies.
In the relatively short time since its establishment, our vocational school has made significant progress in improving the quality of educational activities and creating suitable physical conditions. As of November 2013, the Foreign Languages School building has been opened, equipped with:
- A total of 33 classrooms with varying capacities, most of which are multimedia-supported
- 5 lecture halls
- 1 conference hall actively used for meetings and events
- 2 language laboratories that integrate language instruction with technology
Currently, our school employs 35 English language instructors, 2 German language instructors, and 3 Arabic language instructors.
Our priority is to increase the current class hours, provide the necessary technical equipment to ensure that students receive language education under better conditions, and complete the deficiencies in our classrooms. In line with contemporary approaches, our focus is on creating an environment where student-centered education is provided, emphasizing the communicative and functional aspects of language. To achieve this, we provide our staff with the necessary academic support through in-service training.
Department of Foreign Languages
The Department of Foreign Languages within the vocational school provides English language education for students who have qualified to study at Fırat University, offering one academic year of training over two semesters before they take courses in their respective departments. The aim of this education is to prepare students in their fields for certain English courses and equip them for life during and after their academic careers.
